We're proud of working things virtually most of the time, but many of the big decisions in the history of Global Voices have happened when people finally met face to face – including the very founding of Global Voices at the Berkman Center five years ago [2].
Every Summit is different, but if you're curious about what happened in previous years, you can visit the websites and photos that still exist for each. It's also a fun way to see how we've grown.
December 2005
The first Global Voices Summit was in London, UK [3]. It was a one-day meeting that brought together many contributors for the first time and cemented our partnership with Reuters.

December 2006
The second Summit was in Delhi, India [4] and marked the beginning of Lingua and Rising Voices..
June 2008
The third Summit was in Budapest, Hungary [5]. With Global Voices Advocacy we brought together many of the leading online defenders of freedom of expression. We took stock of where we what we'd accomplished with Global Voices as a whole and where we wanted to go.
The upcoming Summit will be in Santiago, Chile in May 2010.
